In May 2025, a new chapter began at Willespie. A Perth family stepped in as custodians of one of Margaret River's original estates and with it, an incredible opportunity to honour fifty years of history while building something exciting for the future.
Willespie has been part of the Wilyabrup landscape since 1976, when Kevin and Marian Squance planted their first vines and began building something special. Over the decades that followed, they built an honest estate - dry-farmed, handpicked, and quietly producing some of the region's most expressive wines. That kind of legacy deserves to be carried forward with care.
That's how we see our role here - as custodians of what came before, and as the team that gets to write what comes next.
Since settling in, we've been busy. We've renovated the cellar door - opened it right up so you can see through to the winery, to where the wine is made. No wall between the experience and the craft. We wanted it to feel like a place you could walk into and stay a while. Somewhere between home and a day out. A place that's yours for the afternoon.
The wines haven't changed direction. They didn't need to. Estate-grown fruit, honest winemaking, three ranges that cover everything from a weeknight pour to something worth cellaring. What we're focused on is making sure more people get to discover them.
So if you've been coming to Willespie for years - welcome home. And if you've never heard of us - even better. Pull up a seat. We'll pour you something good and tell you about the vines that surround us.
There's fifty years of story in this soil. We're just getting started on the next chapter.
